Stories Came Alive

Lygia Bojunga has had a carreer on the stage, and she was evidently very comfortable there, as she charmed audiences during the Award Week in 2004.

The South-American tradition of oral storytelling came into it's own, in her meetings with children and young adults - and the reception from fellow Brasilian H.R.H. Queen Silvia of Sweden was warm.

The Award Ceremony was jammed with artist appearances, but also had room for though-provoking speeches. Lygia Bojunga herself highlighted the role of children's literature in strenghtening the voices and rights of young people, in the acceptance speech that followed on the presentation of the award by H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden.
