The pupils had studied Arai's books beforehand, and listened carefully when Arai asked them all to produce collage books where they could write, cut and stick in fabrics, buttons, threads and paper in different colours and textures.

When the workshop was over the pupils gathered to look on as Ryôji Arai himself produced drawings that they were able to take home together with their collage books.

During the event Ryôji Arai went round and looked at the pupils' work, discussing it with them via an interpreter and body language.

Alla barnen fick sedan själva komma fram och plocka från ett bord fullt av material av olika slag såsom knappar, tyger, trådar och papper i olika färger och kvalitet.
