MainIntro
MainBody

Picture Sonya Hartnett“Sonya Hartnett (Australia) is one of the major forces for renewal in modern young adult fiction. With psychological depth and a concealed yet palpable anger, she depicts the circumstances of young people without avoiding the darker sides of life. She does so with linguistic virtuosity and a brilliant narrative technique; her works are a source of strength.”

Award ceremony

2008 award winner Sonya Hartnett received the award from H.R.H. Crown princess Victoria at Skansen on May 28th.

Award lecture

In front of a spellbound audience at the International Writers' Stage, Sonya Hartnett gave her award lecture, followed by a Q&A with jury member Mats Berggren.

Hartnett met readers at LAVA/Kulturhuset

The atmosphere was tense but happy when Hartnett entered the stage and answered questions from high school students and host Otto Rimfors from LAVA, the youth section at Kulturhuset on May 28th. On stage were also performances by music group Ralf and members of the LAVA theatre group.

Visit to Junibacken

Naturally, Sonya Hartnett paid a visit to Junibacken when in Stockholm. Besides opening the annual exhibition on the award winner, she took a ride on the story train.
