Janina Orlov

Born 1955. Literary scholar and translator.

Janina Orlov is one of Sweden’s most award-winning translators and has translated many titles from Russian and Finnish for both children and adults. She holds a doctorate in Russian language and literature and currently teaches at Stockholm University. She is also a sought-after lecturer and moderator. Orlov has been honored with the Pro Finlandia Medal and numerous prizes, including an Albert Bonniers Minnesfond stipend and the Finnish State Award for Foreign Translators, worth €15,000, for her translations from Finnish to Swedish of such authors as Sofi Oksanen and Rosa Liksom. She is also the 2018 winner of the Hugo Bergroth Prize.
